Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship Hike

January 14, 2023

This hike was a 7 mile hike along a trail at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship.

Pinewood Derby Concession Stand

January 28, 2023

We sold concessions at Pack 962's Black Light Pinewood Derby. We sold things like donuts, cookies, chips, sodas, water, hot chocolate, coffee, and Chick-fil-a sandwiches.

Bring a Friend Ice Skating

February 4, 2023

We went Ice Skating at Skate Frederick in Frederick, Maryland. This was a recruiting event to get people to join the troop.

Goose Creek Freeze-O-Ree

February 11-13, 2023

At the Freeze-O-Ree, scouts participated in many skill challenges, including lashing, fire starting, slingshots, archery, BB guns, triage, shelter building and a Shark Tank activity, which you are given points for completing. Our Troop won 2nd place total in points!

Potomac Heritage Trail Hike

February 26, 2023

This hike was a 10.8 mile, out and back, hike along the Lansdowne portion of the Potomac Heritage Trail.

Molly's Horror Room

March 11, 2023

We beat this escape room with a difficulty of 4/5. Out of the 1 hour time limit, we finished with less than a minute left. Throughout the entire escape room, we showed that we can work as a team, not only to complete the escape room, but also singing, "Let It Go," to get another clue. The escape room was at Bonds Escape Room (3949 University Dr, Fairfax, VA 22030).

Mulch Distribution

March 18, 2023

One of the annual fundraising activities that the local scouts from Troop 962 and 962G participate in, is mulch sales. This year we sold over 750 bags which raised around $1,000 to go back to the troops. Scouts hand out mulch forms beforehand and then deliver them to their Scoutmaster. On drop off day, we deliver all of the mulch.

Eggstravaganza Face Painting

April 1, 2023

Upon the request of our Charter Organization, the Lovettsville | Waterford Ruritans, we did face painting at Lovettsville's Eggstravaganza. This was a gigantic Easter egg hunt for the whole town of Lovettsville to enjoy.

Goose Creek District Spring Camp-O-Ree

April 14-16, 2023

Scouts participated in skill challenges such as bear bagging, cutting logs, archery, orienteering, canoe carrying and more. Points are given for each challenge and the patrol with the most points wins a prize.

Trail Run Face Paint

April 22, 2023

We did face painting at the annual Waterford 5k/10k. We painted things like race flags, skulls, snakes, sharks, unicorns and so much more.

April Hike

April 29, 2023

This Hike was a 15 mile hike along the C&O Canal. We started in Brunswick and walked past Harpers Ferry, before turning around and going into Harpers Ferry for lunch. We then walked back to Brunswick.

Camp Potamac Campout

May 19-21, 2023

This Campout took place at Camp Potomac and was part of our Pack 962's Spring Campout. Because this wasn't a structured campout, we were able to spend a lot of time having fun together.

Mayfest Face Painting

May 27, 2023

We painted faces at the Lovettsville Mayfest as a Troop fundraiser. We requested a $5 donation per face and managed to earn over $600 by the end of the day!

Lovettsville Memorial Day Ceremony

We lead the flag ceremony for this event.

Movie on the Green

June 10-11, 2023

We hosted a movie for the Town on the Lovettsville Town Green, with the 962 Pack and 962 Boys Troop. We set up games for the movie attendees and then only our Troop camped overnight.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

June 14, 2023

With the local 962 Pack and 962 Boys Troop, we hosted a Flag Retirement Ceremony in honor of Flag Day. We cut and burned the flags to retire them in an honorable way.

3rd of July Parade

We lead the Lovettsville 3rd of July Parade.

Rock Enon Summer Camp

July 16-22, 2023

This is our second year going to Camp Rock Enon. This year, they had a pirate theme. Scouts took up to five merit badge classes, over the course of one week. They have many fun challenges, such as the totem hunt, spirit stick and nature scavenger hunt. At the end of the week there is a festival based off the theme.

Life Sized Games

September 9, 2023

We ran the Lovettsville Library's Life Sized Games program at the Lovettsville Community Center. We helped to run games like the Floor is Lava, Angry Birds, Ring Toss, Bowling, Yahtzee and more.

Oktoberfest Cleanup

September 23, 2023

To help serve our community, we helped clean up trash at the Lovettsville Oktoberfest.

Waterford Reconstruction Field Trip

October 1, 2023

To help serve our community and the Waterford Foundation, who allows us to utilize their space for our meetings, we tested their new 7th Grade Field Trip. Scouts participated in a walking tour around the village and learned about what happened during the Reconstruction Period in Waterford, VA.

Mafeking

October 6-8, 2023

Scouts competed in many skills challenges in order to earn points. Mafeking is a yearly event that Scouts participate in. They orienteered to the stations where they complete the challenge and earn points. This year, we were up until 4AM, but we WON! You'll see those who participated this year rocking their Red Mafeking Hoodies during future events.

Spooktacular

October 27-29, 2023

Scouts participated in many fun events such as archery, a zombie run, and a hayride. 

Scouting For Food Drop Off

November 4, 2023

Local Scouts, from Cubs Scouts, Girls Scouts and Scouts BSA Boys and Girls Troops, split into patrols and other groups to attach flyers to doors of Lovettsville houses.

Recruitment Bonfire

November 4-5, 2023

We held a bonfire for new girls to try out the troop. This was a successful recruiting event, as demonstrated by our growing Troop size.

Scouting for Food Pick Up

November 11, 2023

Scouts went back to the houses that they dropped the flyers off at. Many people left food, that we picked up and brought to the church, to be sorted and sent to the local food pantry.

Tree Lighting

December 2, 2023

We distributed hot chocolate with Pack 962 at the Lovettsville Tree Lighting.
